Wood Fired Shino Jug
Wood Fired Shino Jug
Fundamental Economics teaches this basic principle, "The higher the potential risk, the higher the potential reward".  Economists learned this by studying potters who use Shino glazes in Wood Kilns!!  Ok, that's probably not true, but it COULD be true!  This little jug demonstrates why I keep firing Shino glazes in Wood Kilns even though an awful lot of them have been relegated to the shard pile!  Beautiful flashing, complementary wood ash accumulation, and a soft, buttery surface all come together in this little pot that has found its way into my personal "permanent" collection.
